Hi! My name is Abby France, and I’m a senior at Downers Grove North High School. I’ve been playing guitar for nine years and singing in choir for eight years. I also play bass, ukulele and piano. 

One of my favorite things to do is play in a band. I play in a band with my parents, and with my friends at ISYM. ISYM is a summer music program at the University of Illinois, and I’ve done the rock band camp for 4 years. 

I also love to arrange and compose music. In my junior year I took AP Music Theory, and I had a lot of fun composing pieces for that class. I really love working with harmonies, which has influenced my work both in and out of class. It’s really fun to arrange songs like Valerie (which you can listen to in this portfolio!) and adding and changing the harmonies to shake things up. 

Last year I started teaching guitar and ukulele lessons. It has been one of the most rewarding experiences of my life. It’s amazing to see the kids grow and get better, and that’s made me want to pursue a career in music education.

Mostly, I love music. I love playing it, listening to it, writing it and teaching it. It’s my ultimate passion, and I can’t wait to see where it takes me.
